HR (%max) for this program is determined by 220 – age. Example: 220 – 45 = 175 (max HR). If I was on the green program on week 3 I would multiply 175 x .65 = 113. My goal would be to maintain a heart rate of 113+/- while walking. This is only a guideline. You must stay within personal limits and within your physical health or health conditions.
